Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s recovery from a lung cancer operation is proceeding apace and there are no signs of further disease, the Supreme Court announced Friday afternoon.

Ginsburg had two cancerous nodules removed from her lungs at the Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center on Dec. 21. The procedure is called a pulmonary lobectomy.

“Justice Ginsburg will continue to work from home next week and will participate in the consideration and decision of the cases on the basis of the briefs and the transcripts of oral arguments,” Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said in a statement.

“Her recovery from surgery is on track. Post-surgery evaluations indicate no evidence of remaining disease, and no further treatment is required.”

The statement comes amid reports the Trump administration was quietly mobilizing in anticipation of another vacancy on the Supreme Court.

The Daily Caller reported Monday that gingerly preparations were underway at the White House and among its allies in the conservative legal movement for a new nomination to the high court.

The justice was also absent from oral arguments this week.

The cancerous growths in Ginsburg’s lungs were discovered after she was admitted to the hospital to treat a rib fracture.

On that occasion, she fell in her chambers at the high court and later sought medical treatment due to discomfort in her chest.

The injury precluded her from attending Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s ceremonial investiture.

Six weeks after the incident — and just five days before the procedure at Sloan Kettering — Ginsburg told an audience in New York that her health was “fine.”

For her part, Ginsburg has said she will remain at her post for as long as she can fulfill her official duties.

She has often said she hoped to serve as long as her judicial hero, Justice Louis Brandeis, whose tenure lasted 23 years. Ginsburg has been on the Court for 25 years.

Cathy: consult with your local librarians and learn how to research, how to triangulate your news. I’d say “how to think,” but your complete lack of intelligence–and yes–compassion suggests that is too much for you to accomplish.

Yeah since she won’t retire she just needs to go ahead and die and let God take over and let a good conservative fair just to take her spot

Such a godly response–not. Where’s your compassion, even an INKLING of human values? Nope…not there. Shameful.

Needs to retire…..& WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO GET A PETITION GOING & collect 100K+ signatures telling OUR representatives there needs to be term limits on Scott’s. This 25+ years serving as SCOTUS (not just her, there have been others) is PURE BS.
A good proposed term limit would be an odd number….say 11….because the POTUS term is 8 yrs.
    What say he, America?

You can never tell for someone her age if she’ll start losing the battle and head downhill. We can only hope.

And yet another demonstration of humanity–not. Where are all you people from? She has served with distinction for 25 years and you hope she dies? Shame on you. You are certainly not any kind of folks that Christ would like.

I remember when Obama said older people would have to be approved for certain procedures to determine whether they were “eligible”, or in other words, worth it. This lady was in support of Obamacare. If she didn’t have special priveledges and had to follow the same guidelines as everyone else she’d be dead.

She’s too old to be on the bench. There needs to be a mandatory retirement age for all judges.

Mean spiteful old biased hag. Entitled to her opinions in private but as a SCOTUS she should know better than to shoot her liberal mouth off. Have no respect for her and think they’re lying their azzes off. You don’t go from stage 4 lung cancer and bounce back two weeks later at age 84.

She couldn’t stay awake before the surgery. What makes anyone thing she will be any better off after this serious surgery. She should think of the country and the best thing for the Supreme Court and quit. She is unable to do the job the American people expect of her. She is being ridiculous and dishonest to the country.

I hope she can’t vote from home. If you can’t make it into the chambers you should not be able to vote. I don’t care how often you read the notes
This is wrong and unfair to the proposal you are considering..

Term limits to apply to all government offices. Ginsburg is an OLD 85-year old woman. Some 85-year olds have more spunk, energy, and intelligence than that sleeping old woman. How many of us could keep a job while sleeping on it.

Ginsburg did nothing but screw over the Democratic party. She was so power-hungry that she didn’t want to retire when she SHOULD HAVE; when Obama was in office, and could have replaced her with another, younger Liberal Judge… BUT NOOOOO. She refused to play along with her own party and now, here she is, most likely on her death-bed and now the Republicans will replace her with a Conservative judge who will hold the bench for many years to come. Way to go, Ruthie… You dumbass. Just goes to show the greediness of Liberals in power….

Yeah she’s all healthy and everything else but she’s so damn old she can to stay awake 5 minutes to do anything just because she’s healthy doesn’t mean she’s functional and she’s not

I am,not a fan of this judge and especially making a comment about our President..but I guess its good everyone can see her true feelings.?? But sad to say, I don’t wish ill on people, however this may be her Waterloo and the end of this career and service! Once these problems arise, they usually don’t go away especially at her age!

Does missing oral arguments, which is a normal and expected duty of a justice, mean that she is failing to meet her official duties? If so, then she should agree to step down.
