Ruth Bader Ginsburg publicly applauded colleague Brett Kavanaugh last week for helping establish Supreme Court history with an unprecedented move that progressives will surely praise.

Speaking via prepared remarks at a judges conference in New York on Friday, Ginsburg praised Kavanaugh for selecting only women for his team of law clerks. The move meant that, for the first time in Supreme Court history, there are more female clerks than male clerks serving the court.

“Justice Kavanaugh made history by bringing on board an all-female law clerk crew. Thanks to his selections, the Court has this Term, for the first time ever, more women than men serving as law clerks,” she said.

However, Ginsburg cautioned that further progress is needed to ensure equal gender representation at the Supreme Court.

“Women did not fare nearly as well as advocates,” Ginsburg explained. “Only about 21 percent of the attorneys presenting oral argument this term were female; of the 34 attorneys who appeared more than once, only six were women.”

After his controversial confirmation battle, one of the most intense in American history, Kavanaugh followed through on his promise to hire only female clerks.

According to the New York Times, just one of Kavanaugh’s clerks worked with him during his days on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. The other three clerks previously worked for lower-court judges appointed by Republican presidents.

Did Justice Kavanaugh really promise to hire only female clerks? I am quite disappointed – this is sex discrimination. How would he rule in a case in which a company made it clear that only men should apply?

Before saying anything should see how it actually plays out, if he did it he did it for a reason. This makes us no better than the fake news to just jump the gun on this.

I agree. It should be based on qualifications, not gender.

So, when Ruth spoke from prepared remarks, did that mean that she actually spoke them in person? So has she been spotted alive? I’d love to see some pictures. I can’t imagine anybody in this day and time saying that they would only hire females. I’m going to have to look that up because that truly is discrimination and nobody could get away with saying that they would only hire males.

That was made known right after he was sworn in. Old news. But what I want to know is why any of the liberal women hadn’t made that move long before Kavanaugh. He probably did it to reassure the #METOOMOVEMENT. Sad that everybody chooses to bow down.

Talk about a big NOTHING burger!! This is like saying her hires only people between the ages of 30 and 50. Can quality and smarts be derived primarily from genes and gender?!? I think NOT!! I, for one, am NOT impressed with this stat! It’s just a biased point of view from anyone who believes that an all-female clerk staff is superior(??) to a male staff of law clerks! Biased and short-sighted, IMHO!

I don’t give a rip what sex they are if they are the best qualified for the job but if they hired for the taco between their legs instead of their qualification then Kavanaugh is an idiot.

Maybe they are disguised as women. . I once saw a movie called (Some like it Hot) and the girls were intriguing.

if this sets a precedence, then all justices should follow suit in order to achieve this “equality” in law clerks. ALL JUSTICES should split their staffs between men and women, PROVIDED they can and will do the work honorable, equitably, consistently, and ethically. sexual representation is less important than the ability to accomplish the given and needed tasks.

If she was that concerned about it why didn’t she bring in all female clerks? All talk and no action = liberal
