As George H.W. Bush is laid to rest, many touching memories of the man continue to flutter their way to the surface.

One of these moments with the 41st president involved a Secret Service agent’s 2-year-old son named Patrick, according to CBS News.

Patrick was diagnosed with leukemia at the tender age of 2.

As the boy began to lose his hair, Bush learned that the Secret Service team was going to shave their head in support of Patrick, and decided he too would shave his head for the young boy.

In a move that many would be too embarrassed to do in a public role such as his, Bush showed the grace and character of a man that truly thought of others before himself.

He showed Patrick that courage is a state of mind and at any age, you can find strength.

The U.S. Secret Service tweeted the story, writing, “Everyone’s #TuesdayThoughts are on President Bush.”

The tweet also mentioned Bush by his secret service code – Timberwolf — a name that certainly was synonymous for courage.

In the tweet, the Secret Service showed an image of Bush with Patrick perched upon his lap from 2013.

Both have their heads shaved in bold similarity.

A second photo tweeted out by the former president in November 2016 — a full three years after the first image was taken — shows both Bush and Patrick with full heads of hair.

“Incredibly #thankful that my friend Patrick, the courageous young man (with hair!) to my left, is feeling and doing much better these days,” Bush wrote.

Bush died in on Friday at the age of 94.

Our condolences are with the Bush family today and always. Forty-one, you were a brave and caring man with a heart of gold.
